Summer is practically here, and that means it’s time to break out the roster of fabulous summer events! There’s already plenty of fun to be had around town already. Residents of Nickel Plate Station, apartments in Fishers, Indiana, already enjoy easy access to the Nickel Plate Trail and a short walk to top restaurants and retail spots. But in case you’re itching to fill the calendar with some special events, check out some of the top picks!
Concerts

#1: Community Concert Series at the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater
Make your way to the heart of downtown Fishers at the NPD Amphitheater to enjoy a FREE summer concert lineup! Some of the hot acts coming in 2023 include Six Foot Blonde, My Yellow Rickshaw, and Groovesmash. You can bring your own food and non-alcoholic beverages, but there are also food, snacks, and drinks available onsite. You’ll want to grab a blanket or lawn chair and get there plenty early because there are no reserved or permanent seats. Concerts kick off at 7 PM except for the July 4th special.

#2: Summer Concert Series at the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater
The Amphitheater is not only home to community concerts but also a prime outdoor venue for other touring musical groups. On July 15th, you can see Ripe perform their Bright Blues Tour, or you can come back on September 8th for the Snarky Puppy – Empire Central Tour. You will need to reserve tickets in advance, but kids 2 and under get in FREE with a paid adult ticket.

#3: Symphony on the Prairie
Symphony on the Prairie has become a beloved ongoing musical event series at Conner Prairie. The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra (ISO) and other musicians will perform a wide variety of musical genres, and each event gets its own theme. Some of the highlights for this season include the music of Harry Potter, a special Indiana Jones night where one of the beloved films will be shown while the orchestra plays the soundtrack live, and tributes to legends like Whitney Houston and Queen.

Ongoing Events

#1: Fishers Farmers Market
Nothing beats a few hours exploring fresh, local produce and other artisanal goods. The Fishers Farmers Market takes place every Saturday, May through September, from 8 AM to 12 noon. It is hosted at the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater.

#2: Wednesday Walks at Fishers Parks
Enjoy some time outdoors exploring the parks around Fishers. Take a casual walk with members of the Fishers Parks staff from 9 AM to 10 AM. On June 14th, make your way to Flat Fork Creek Park or on July 19th head to the Fishers AgriPark.

#3: Free Yoga Wednesdays
Every Wednesday in June, July, and August you can find free yoga at the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater. The event is hosted by qualified instructors from Roots and Wings Yoga and Wellness. It lasts from 9 AM to 10 AM, and all you have to bring is your own mat!

One-Time Events

#1: History on Tap
Conner Prairie hosts a special experience with craft beer, historical entertainment, a lesson on the Temperance Movement, and food available for purchase. The event is on June 2nd from 6 PM to 10 PM, tickets are required.

#2: Spark!Fishers
This is Fishers' incredible annual weeklong festival! It includes a full list of events, from a 5K to a fair, parade, and aerial show. There’s something for everyone, and it all takes place in downtown Fishers from June 20th to June 24th.

#3: July 4th Fireworks
Fishers offers not one, not two, but THREE different locations where you can view July 4th fireworks! You can go to the Nickel Plate District, Cyntheanne Park, and from the water or a nearby residence at Geist Reservoir.

#4: Monsoon Madness
For one day, Holland Park will be turned into an epic pop-up waterpark! There will be a giant waterslide, live entertainment, and more. It takes place Saturday, July 22nd. You can pay for early admission from 11 AM to 12 PM, but it’s FREE from 12 PM to 3 PM.
